This is a highly subjective list of posts: I include them here because I’m fond of them for one reason or another, or they made more people than usual sit up and take notice. These are listed in reverse chronological order; personally, I feel the better ones are somewhere on the second half of the list.

“Choose your own atheism”. My response to Dylan Evans’ call for a “kinder, gentler” nonbelief.

“Vatican Idol” . My pa-humorous take on the Great Pope Search of 2005.

“Earworm”. Some may just call the Coke ad starring Nikki Gil a shameless ripoff of the British version; I write about the genius of “Filipinizing” this foreign concept.

“Gong Xi Fa Cai, you Dodgy Scum”; “Bad Chi”. The only time I’ll ever devote to that feng shui claptrap is the few minutes it took me to put together these posts.

“The Name Blame”. The BBC recently aired a commentary on strange Filipino names; I wuz there first with this blog post.

“I wonder why”. Inspired by Bill Bryson’s excellent book; a treatise on wonder and the universe.

“History, through the Eyes of the Dead”. Walking through old graves with Carlos Celdran.

“Tito Gerry’s Shorts’ World Debut” - my skewed take on one of my aunt‘s art exhibits.

“The One Where Buddha is Lord of All the Black Holes in the Milky Way.” Finding a bucket o’laughs in the New Age movement, or at least its followers in Manila suburbia.

“Cultural Catholic”; “UnCatholic” “Once a Catholic, always a Catholic,” they say, even if I’ve stopped believing in God, or finding inspiration in the Church hierarchy. These two articles explain my journey away (but not too far away) from the fold.

“Abu, There and Back Again” . My love letter to a loyal pooch.

“Boogie Night.” A tongue-in-cheek account of an FHM interview (although you might get the sense I wished the tongue were lodged in a different orifice.)
