My name is Mike Aquino. I’m a writer by profession, a professed freethinker, and (I think) an average kinda guy.

I used to smoke, but quit about two years ago. I have worked in Singapore, Malaysia, and in Manila. Currently I am the guide in charge of About.com’s Southeast Asia Travel site.

My short resume - worked at FCB, Bozell, Publicis-AMA, Creative Response, and Mandate Advertising (Singapore). Graduated from Ateneo de Manila with a degree in Communication.

I am married to Minnette, and we are parents to Miranda, who will grow up to change the world.

Elsewhere on the web, I hang out at Facebook, Metafilter, and Multiply. I have an updated list of my books at LibraryThing. My pictures can be seen at Flickr.

I can be reached at micketymoc *at* gmail *dot* com. Don’t be a stranger.

Oh dear, those doors. I too have three: 1. Accepting my company’s offer of a move to central office in a far off & strange city; 2. leaving my beloved hometown to become a monk in a strange land (but with a sense of sending); 3. staying in my hometown with my friends (few, poorly connected, but faithful) and acquaintances (many), teaching E.F.L. and guiding tourists (because nothing better occurs to me). In Feb., I shall check out the remote monastery.

    hi mickmoc,

do you remember me? we’re blood. :) i’m grace, your cousin or aunt or something. i remember playing with you when i was really young (8? 10 years old?) during a summer family trip to davao city. btw, were you the one who saw jenny (elaine’s sister) dancing naked in front of a mirror in auntie manay’s bedroom before she (jenny, not auntie manay, ha) took a shower?

    oi,
    grace

Ewww. Auntie Manay taking a shower. :) (Sino ba yun, si Nanay? Double eeewwwwwww!) I see you’re doing well! How’s your consultancy coming along? It’s always nice to hear from family (no matter how distant).

Someday ya just gotta show me how to get my portfolio online. I’ve done lots of writing gigs for FHM and stuff (apart from my day job as a copywriter), and my next big project should be to have my stuff on the Net for all to see. Yours isn’t half bad.

    Hi Kuya Mic!

This is too surreal! I was just looking for soozy hopper on google as i am the last one on earth to hear about it and look what i found! First I wasn’t too sure until I saw the video of your wedding! Marvelous! Only that, I didn’t even know that you’r married already! Wait, do you even remember me!?Hahahah! Well, I’m your second cousin! Let’s see what you have to say. From what i gather here you seem to be very happy. That’s just nice. Anyway, I hope this won’t be the last. I shall hear from you soon. Or perhaps, we can all get together sometime. (I live in Manila, just in case). Take it easy, Kuys!
