Because I realize that atheism with a capital A isn’t really for everyone.
Because (despite my lack of faith) I’m still open to the possibility that the next-best thing to less religion in society is a multitude of religions displacing a monoculturally-Catholic society.
Because there’s this huge middle ground between Richard Dawkins and Benedict XVI… not the nutty kind, mind you, but the subset of smart but spiritual people who believe that having faith doesn’t necessarily put one’s intelligence on hold.
Because your God doesn’t hate gays or care if you skip Mass for three-fourths of the year. Because you realized that the God your pastor was telling you about was wrong, hateful, and judgmental. Read more…
